Redesign the process, don't just digitise it
Automation pays off when the process is redesigned, not just digitised.
In this course you pick one process from your own organisation, map how it really works, find waste and risk, redesign it and build a working automation using no-code tools and AI. You visit a company that has automated at scale and measure your pilot's results.
By the end of the course you will have an automation pilot: current and future process maps, a working prototype, measured results and a scale-up business case.
This course is the second step of the learning path “Data, Automation and AI Agents”. Also explore “From Data to Decisions: Analytics and Dashboards” and “Managing Agentic Work: AI Agents at Scale”.
Who is Redesigning Business Processes with AI and Automation intended for?
The course is designed for process owners, business analysts, operations and shared-service managers, and project leads.
Some experience with digital tools is recommended. No coding is needed.
The course runs in two parallel groups: in Estonian on Tuesdays and in English on Thursdays.
Explore the course
The course combines nine sessions at EBS (one of them a company visit), independent work and practical assignments. You apply the topics to a real challenge in your own organisation.

You run a process redesign and automation pilot: current and future process maps, a working prototype, measured results and a scale-up business case.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- map a process as it really runs and measure its time, cost, errors and delays;
- redesign the process and select where rules-based automation, AI or people fit best;
- build and test a working automation with no-code tools and AI;
- measure results and make a business case for scaling, including controls.
Meet the other participants
In week 5 we visit a company that runs automation at scale, such as a shared service centre. The visit is followed by a joint dinner, where you can get to know the other participants and share experiences.
Completion and feedback
During the course you complete practical assignments, give and receive peer feedback, and complete two milestones and a final project:
- milestone 1: current-state process map and metrics;
- milestone 2: working prototype;
- final project: automation pilot and business case
You receive written feedback on each milestone within seven days. There are no exams or grades.
To complete the course and receive the certificate, you must attend at least seven of the nine sessions and present your final project.
Certificate
On completing the course you receive an EBS executive education certificate.
Learning environment
Sessions take place in EBS classrooms. Canvas is used for independent work.
