International admissions to EBS

Ready to apply?

We look forward to learning about you through your application to Estonian Business School.  Here you'll find a detailed explanation of the admission process for international students to EBS. First-year applicants and transfer students both have to go through the admission process.

Admission requirements

Before submitting your application, please make sure that you meet the admission criteria. The criteria will depend on the programme you wish to apply to. Read more about the programme-specific and language requirements on Bachelor's or Master's programmes admission pages.

Admission Process

Our admission process is through the DreamApply system. All necessary information and documents should be provided through this platform.

Step 1: Submit an online application in DreamApply

You will be asked to provide your personal data, educational background, language skills, extracurricular activities and employment information.

To start off go to DreamApply and create an account.

You will be asked to provide

You will be asked to provide the contact information of two references (a teacher, tutor, co-worker, manager, etc.) who will receive an invitation via email to provide an assessment of the applicant.

To assess the applicant’s ambition, motivation and argumentation skills, you will answer several questions about your background, achievements and future goals.

Upload proper scans of the following educational documents:

  • Previous education documents (certificate/diploma and grade transcript)
  • Provide authorised English translations of your documents if the originals are not in English along with the original documents.
    • NB! If your final documents are not available yet, then upload your most recent academic transcripts in English.
    • Check country-specific requirements below to ensure the qualification you have is considered suitable for applying.
    • Please keep in mind that in order to qualify for studies at EBS, an applicant must have at least 60% of the highest possible GPA.
  • Proof of English language proficiency
    • A list of accepted internationally recognised language tests is provided with the programme-specific criteria.
  • Copy of passport identification pages

Step 2: Application fee payment

  • The application fee is 120€ and it allows the applicant to apply to 2 programmes during one application round.
  • Candidates from EU/EEA countries, as well as from Ukraineare exempt from paying the application fee.
  • The application fee invoice will be sent via DreamApply after admission team has received your application. Please keep in mind that the invoice is not generated automatically.
  • The application and relevant documents will be processed within 7 days of receiving your application fee. Candidates whose application and documents successfully pass the preliminary evaluation will get to the examinations status.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Candidates from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates or Uzbekistan, must use Wise or Paysera for the payment to avoid extra charges and ensure faster processing.

Step 4: Admission interview

You will be contacted to schedule the admission interview. The interview will be conducted in English and is around 20 minutes. Admission interviews take place once a month online.

The aim of the interview is to get to know more about the applicant. We expect you to share your story, journey towards EBS and your future aspirations.

We evaluate the admission interview based on 3 criteria:

  • Motivation
  • Ambition
  • Argumentation skill

We encourage you to ask your questions about EBS during the interview.

Step 5: Admission interview results

You will be informed about the results of the admission interview in 7 days.

If you successfully pass the admission interview, you will be conditionally accepted:

  • To receive full acceptance, we will need you to fulfil the conditions that are brought out in the conditional acceptance letter. Once they are fulfilled, we will issue a final acceptance letter.

Step 6: Verification of the educational documents

In order to receive full acceptance, we will need to verify the validity of your educational documents. Please note that educational documents should be sent only upon the request of the Admissions team.

Options for sending the documents:

  • Send us notarised and verified hard copies of the educational documents by post:
  • Contact details: EBS Admissions and Study Department, address: A. Lauteri 3, 10114 Tallinn, Estonia
  • Please note that the application documents will not be returned
  • If you are in Estonia already, you can come to the study department and scan the original documents as well. Please take the diploma, transcript and passport with you in this case.
  • Ask your previous education institution to send us the documents directly (from their official email to admission@ebs.ee).
  • In case there are online verification services available in your country, this option can be used as well.

Step 7: Academic recognition of your previous education

To ensure that all submitted education documents are authentic and grant access to higher education in Estonia, they are verified by an Academic Recognition Information Centre called ENIC/NARIC.

  • EBS will send the educational documents for assessment to ENIC/NARIC.
  • The ENIC/NARIC evaluation can take up to one month.
  • Please note that a positive ENIC/NARIC evaluation decision is a prerequisite for receiving the final admission decision.

Step 8: Admission decision & payment of the tuition fee

Once we have an evaluation of the final documents, your status in DreamApply will change to "Accepted". After being accepted, the student will be issued the tuition fee invoice.

Tuition fee payment deadlines vary by country

  • The tuition fee is paid by semester (every half year). You can pay the semester tuition fee in one, two or four instalments.
  • The first instalment of the tuition fee has to be paid by August 25.
  • You will receive an invoice with a personal deadline via MyEBS account.
  • The tuition fee is paid by semester (every half year).
  • The tuition fee has to be paid latest by August 1.
  • You will receive an invoice with a personal deadline via MyEBS account.
  • The tuition fee for the first study year is paid in one instalment.
  • The tuition fee has to be paid before your visa appointment with the Embassy.
  • You will receive an invoice with a personal deadline via email.

Step 9: Acceptance letter

The final acceptance letter is sent to an applicant who:

  • has sent all the required documents to EBS and received a positive evaluation from the Estonian ENIC/NARIC centre
  • has successfully passed the admission interview
  • has confirmed their study offer in the DreamApply system
  • has paid the tuition fee according to the invoice

Candidates who need to acquire a visa to migrate to Estonia can now book a visa appointment.

Step 10: Access to MyEBS & course enrolment

To give you a smooth start to your studies, we have moved the study contract (terms & conditions of study), course enrolment and future payment to one platform called MyEBS.

Access to MyEBS is granted after the tuition fee payment. You will receive instructions about how to choose courses in July. You will also access the schedules in MyEBS.

Migration information

All students who are not Estonian citizens need to apply for a visa and/or a temporary residence permit and register their place of residence in Estonia. The visa and residence permit application process will begin after the student has been accepted to study in the chosen program and has paid the tuition fee.

Degree student from an EU/EEA country

As an EU/EEA citizen, you may stay in Estonia for up to 3 months with a valid travel document or ID card without registering your right of residence.

Degree student from a non-EU country

As a non-EU student, you must complete the following steps:

  • Apply for a long-stay D-visa at an Estonian embassy to enter Estonia for studies. In case you do not need a visa to enter Estonia, you may apply for a D-visa upon arrival. Please find the Estonian representations which handle visa applications here.
  • Apply for a temporary residence permit for study after your arrival to Estonia at the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
  • The temporary residence permit is issued for the duration of your studies on the condition that a full study load is upheld (60 ECTS per year).
  • Register your place of residence in the City District Administration within 1 month of receiving your residence permit.
  • See the Student Guide for an overview of the migration process for non-EU citizens.

Migration consultants

Migration consultants support foreigners in settling in Estonia. Please contact the migration consultants if you have questions regarding the visa or TRP requirements.  Advisers provide service in Estonian, English and Russian. The service is free of charge.

They provide counselling over the phone, by email, online, and face to face. Make an appointment with a consultant or an online counselling slot ahead of time.

Living in Estonia

Accommodation

Estonian Business School does not have a dormitory. Our international students usually rent private apartments or share bigger apartments with roommates. Splitting the rent among a few people may offer an opportunity to find great accommodation at an affordable price. You do not have to have a rental agreement in place during the visa application process - a short-term booking from a hotel or an Airbnb is sufficient.

Rental rooms or flats can be found online or through real estate agencies operating in the city. Prices can vary widely depending on the number of rooms and facilities offered. Also, price differences can depend on the preferences of the student.

EBS is located in the city center, so renting a flat nearby is the most convenient option. However, Tallinn offers free public transport to its residents, so commuting does not add any additional costs.

Upon closing a rental deal, be prepared to pay a deposit. Generally, the deposit is the equivalent of three months’ rent; one month’s rent will be returned to you upon your departure, provided that the accommodation is left in an acceptable condition.

EBS has parterened with Larsen accommodation that offers affordable studios and shared flats in Tallinn. You may also explore private rental listings on KV and City24.

Useful tips and rental listings can also be found in Facebook groups (Erasmus in Tallinn/accommodation).

Healthcare and insurance

The Health Insurance Fund (Tervisekassa) is provided for higher education students who are permanent residents of Estonia. This means that international students must have a private health insurance policy or a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Useful information about the Estonian healthcare system can be found in this booklet.

Health insurance for EU citizens

If you are an EU citizen, you should apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your national health insurance provider before arriving in Estonia. The EHIC card covers medically necessary, state-provided healthcare.

Health insurance for non-EU citizens

Travel insurance is required for the visa application process. However, health insurance is mandatory for applying for the temporary residence permit (TRP). The requirements for travel and health insurance can be found above with the visa/TRP requirements. You may find an insurance provided from home or ask for an offer from the Estonian insurance provider KindlustusEst.

A student who has been granted a temporary residence permit for study is not covered by the Estonian Health Insurance Fund (Tervisekassa). Estonian Health Insurance Fund coverage becomes available to you only when you are employed in Estonia or have the right of permanent residence or a long-term residence permit.
