Digital Product Management microdegree

Digital Product Leadership, Delivery and Change Management

Many organizations successfully build digital products, yet the bigger picture remains fragmented—portfolios fail to support strategy, teams move in different directions, and technology decisions don’t deliver the expected impact. Whether your product strategy and operations are already in place—or need to be rethought—the next critical challenge is clear: how to lead an entire product portfolio in a way that delivers consistent and scalable value.

The Digital Product Leadership, Delivery and Change Management microdegree equips leaders with a practical framework to align technology, people, and strategic choices into a coherent operating model—enabling decisions that drive meaningful impact across the organization, its users, and society.

Leading Digital Product Portfolios with Strategic Impact

This microdegree elevates product management from leading individual products to shaping and steering an entire product portfolio with measurable business impact. Participants develop the ability to make strategic trade-offs—balancing innovation, resource allocation, and long-term business goals in complex environments.

The real value lies in integrating strategy, design, and operations into a coherent leadership approach that works in dynamic and uncertain contexts. As a result, participants are equipped to lead digital product portfolios in a way that delivers consistent value while considering impact across the organization, its users, and society.

Who is Digital Product Leadership, Delivery and Change Management intended for?

The microdegree is designed for experienced professionals responsible for digital product development, portfolio direction, or leading organizational change. It is particularly relevant for product managers, product leaders, technology and engineering managers, service owners, as well as innovation and business development leaders involved in strategic decision-making.

The program also suits professionals transitioning from managing individual products to broader leadership roles, aiming to develop capabilities in leading teams, shaping product portfolios, and driving organizational impact. Prior experience in digital products, product development, or technology environments—and involvement in decision-making processes—is expected.

Topics Covered

Throughout the program, you will develop the ability to design and manage product and technology portfolios, balance innovation and risk, and make data-driven strategic decisions. You will also explore how to build an organizational environment where learning, experimentation, and collaboration drive innovation and enable teams to achieve stronger results.

The microdegree equips leaders with practical tools to align portfolio management, technology choices, and team leadership into a coherent operating model. By the end of the program, you will apply your learning in practice by developing a portfolio management solution for your organization, conducting an impact analysis, and defending your strategic decisions before an expert panel.

What will you learn?

Strategic portfolio management: how to design and lead a coherent product and technology landscape aligned with organizational goals.
Linking technology and business: how to translate technological decisions into business value and make informed investment choices.
Building an innovation culture: how to create an environment that supports learning, experimentation, and collaboration.
Leading through influence: how to guide teams and shape decisions without formal authority.
Change management: how to define problems, design change journeys, and evaluate impact.

Strategic Technology & Product Portfolio Leadership – 24 contact hours, 106 hours of independent study – 5 ECTS

Why is important?

Leaders must be able to make decisions that balance innovation, risk, and business impact while ensuring effective use of resources.

What will you learn?

In this course, participants learn to design and manage digital product and technology portfolios using structured models and data-driven approaches. The focus is on building strategic narratives, balancing portfolios (e.g. innovation vs stability), and aligning technology decisions with business value.

Participants also develop the ability to understand and guide technical strategy without deep specialization, while strengthening collaboration between engineering and business stakeholders to ensure coherent execution.

Innovation Culture and Leading through Influence – 24 contact hours, 106 hours of independent study – 5 ECTS

Why is it important?

Even the best strategy will not succeed if the organizational culture does not support learning, collaboration, and experimentation.

What will you learn?

This course focuses on how to build an organizational culture that supports learning and innovation. Key topics include growth mindset, psychological safety, trust-building, and leading through influence in environments where formal authority may be limited.

Participants work with practical frameworks and tools (e.g. Growth Mindset, Psychological Safety, Trust Equation, Nonviolent Communication) to improve collaboration, resolve conflicts, and enhance team performance in diverse environments.

Capstone: Product Portfolio Leadership and Organisational Impact – 24 contact hours, 106 hours of independent study – 5 ECTS

Why is it important?

Strategic leadership requires the ability to link decisions to real impact and defend them convincingly. Leaders must demonstrate how their choices create value for the organization, users, and society.

What will you do?

In the final course, participants apply all acquired knowledge in a practical capstone project. They develop a Product Leader Portfolio that includes portfolio strategy, a technology roadmap, and risk considerations.

In addition, participants conduct an impact analysis and define a clear organizational change problem and solution path. The program concludes with a final defense before an expert panel, where strategic thinking, argumentation skills, and leadership capability are assessed.

The University reserves the right to make adjustments to the programme in cooperation with the lead lecturer to ensure the best possible learning experience.
