The 21st Madis Habakuk Cup brought the EBS community together for golf, padel and an evening of celebration

For the 21st time, EBS alumni, students, lecturers and friends came together for the Madis Habakuk Cup. Held on 21 September, which is Madisepäev, the name day of EBS founder Madis Habakuk, the tournament once again gave EBS people from different years and walks of life a reason to meet, reconnect and enjoy a day of sport together.

On a Monday afternoon at Estonian Golf and Country Club, 53 golfers played across 15 teams in a friendly Florida Scramble tournament. The teams were formed with players’ handicaps in mind, while also giving participants a chance to share a round with people they might not otherwise meet. That mix of golf and new connections has always been part of what makes the day special.

This year’s Madis Habakuk Cup winners were Krista Tuulik, Sampo Järvinen and Andrus Vender. Congratulations to the team on taking first place!

Alongside the traditional golf tournament, EBS also organised a padel tournament this year. It opened the day to people with an interest in another sport and created one more opportunity to experience the virtue of the EBS community.

Players competed in two skill groups: Robin Rits won Group A, and Olli Lukinmaa won Group B. Congratulations to both padel winners!

The two tournaments merged in the evening at our alumnus restaurant Da Vinci Solaris, where golf and padel players, along with their guests, enjoyed dinner together. The winners of both sports received their awards, and the evening continued with a raffle. It was wonderful to see new and familiar EBS faces around the same tables sharing stories, meeting one another and simply enjoying each other’s company.

Traditions and communities are built by the people who keep coming together and carry them forward from one generation to the next. That is exactly what the Madis Habakuk Cup continues to be for EBS.
