Project Manager at marketing agency Megapiksel, Getri Mitt values personal development and new challenges. She believes that growth starts with a willingness to challenge yourself and step confidently outside familiar boundaries.

“My master’s studies helped me develop a more systematic understanding of how businesses and organisations actually work. Another great value was the opportunity to learn from experienced lecturers with international backgrounds, as well as ambitious fellow students,” she says.

Getri’s career has included working as a freelance marketing consultant as well as roles at Pagarini and Rotermann City. While her career path has often evolved intuitively, each new step has brought new knowledge and reinforced her interest in technology, finance and high-growth companies. Like many master’s students, Getri came to EBS after some time had passed since completing her bachelor’s degree – when she felt ready to take on something new.

Why study at EBS?

“I had been interested in EBS for a long time. My friend Timmu Tõke, co-founder of Ready Player Me, had told me a lot about his experience at EBS – not only about his studies, but also about the people, the environment and how much the experience had given him. When I attended his graduation ceremony, I got to experience some of it myself. Even how different the ceremony was compared to those at other universities stayed with me for a long time,” Getri recalls.

She ultimately chose EBS’s MA programme.

“The greatest value of EBS is its people. It creates an excellent environment for meaningful discussions that broaden your perspective on business and management,” she says.

“During my studies, I worked at a fintech start-up and had a close-up view of the challenges the sector faces. Regulation, trust and competition were some of the common denominators. Over time, I became increasingly interested in why some Estonian fintech companies are able to grow very successfully in such a complex environment, while others are not.”

For her master’s thesis, Getri interviewed the leaders of ten Estonian fintech companies. The data she collected showed that in fintech, product-market fit is not a single moment or milestone. Rather, it emerges through the interaction of several different signals: customers use the product consistently, the company complies with regulatory requirements, and business results confirm that the solution creates genuine value.

“The main conclusion of my master’s thesis was that product-market fit in fintech does not happen overnight or by chance. It develops when customer usage and purchasing behaviour, business results and regulatory readiness come together to form a mutually reinforcing whole.”

“EBS is a good fit for someone who wants to take the next big step in their career or entrepreneurial journey – whether that means taking on more responsibility, finding an entirely new career direction or accelerating the growth of a company. It is a place for ambitious people who enjoy challenging themselves. Those who prefer to stay in their comfort zone or do not feel the need to develop would probably not enjoy it here.”

Looking ahead

Getri is excited about the future. She is motivated by the opportunity to keep developing, take on increasing responsibility and become more involved in strategic decision-making. She is particularly inspired by the opportunity to see marketing as a whole, bring together different people and areas of expertise, and help both teams and companies grow.

“I want to enjoy the journey, not just the results. I am also interested in coaching – the course I took during my master’s studies was particularly memorable. The ability to listen to people, unlock their potential and support their development is extremely valuable.” Getri says she would not rule out pursuing another master’s degree in the future.

EBS has been a springboard for many leading Estonian specialists and executives. What does Getri believe makes a good leader?

“A good leader moves the team forward. They notice and recognise good work, but also provide honest and constructive feedback. They create opportunities for employees to develop, make bold decisions and take responsibility when needed.”
