EBS Summer School Focuses on the Interplay Between Digitalisation and Sustainable Development
How can businesses and societies prepare for a future in which technological, climate and economic changes increasingly shape everyday decisions? This question is at the heart of the 6th International Summer School taking place at Estonian Business School from 10–14 August, bringing together experts, academics and business practitioners from Estonia and abroad.
The week-long programme focuses on the digital and green transitions – the twin transition – and their impact on management, business strategies and societal development. Participants explore how organisations can adapt to change and what role scenario planning can play in preparing for the future. This year’s Summer School brings together 35 master’s students from 10 different countries.
On the opening day, Keit Kasemets will provide an overview of Estonia’s digital and green transition, David Seim will address economic change and inequality, while Meelis Kitsing, Rector of EBS, will introduce the concept of scenario planning and future scenarios.
Throughout the programme, the impact of the twin transition is examined from a range of perspectives. Kristi Klaas will discuss Estonia’s green transition and its international context, while Renato Sydler, Head of the EBS Doctoral Programme, will explore how technological and sustainability-related changes are shaping business strategies. Tea Danilov will share insights into the twin transition and Estonia’s future scenarios.
The impact of digitalisation on Europe and business will be explored by David Ramiro Troitiño and Paul Spörl, who will provide a practical perspective from the aviation sector.
AI experts and entrepreneurs will examine the opportunities and implications of artificial intelligence for business. Carmen Kivisild will share her experience of turning a research-based idea into an AI company, while Shahab Anbarjafari will discuss developments and opportunities in AI. Deniss Ojastu will present the practical experience of an Estonian technology company in applying AI, while Shuxi Yin will explore innovation in China.
Alongside expert lectures, participants will take part in scenario planning workshops throughout the week, analysing possible future trajectories and developing strategies for operating in changing conditions.
The EBS Summer School provides a platform for international knowledge exchange and discussion on issues shaping the future of businesses, leaders and societies – from technological transformation to sustainable economic growth.
