A microdegree won’t make you a CFO – it will teach you to think like a leader.

This microdegree gives you the practical ability to connect financial information with decision-making – starting with the basics of time value of money, investment analysis and risk assessment, and progressing to planning, budgeting and performance evaluation through managerial accounting.

You’ll learn how business numbers reflect strategic choices and how to use that insight in real-world decisions – whether it’s pricing, investment or operational planning.

It’s a mindset shift for those who want to get closer to strategic decision-making, even without a finance background.

Who is Financial and Managerial Decision-Making intended for?

This microdegree is for people with no prior background in economics, finance or management who want a solid foundation for working in an international business environment. It suits specialists in other fields, non-business students, entrepreneurs and career changers looking to build their knowledge of finance, managerial decision-making and professional business communication.

You will study alongside EBS first-year bachelor’s students, so classes take place twice a week during the daytime.

Topics Covered

The microdegree is designed for those interested in a managerial career in international organisations. Upon completion, the participants will be able to make, justify and communicate ethical and informed business decisions.
With whom do you study in this programme?
Faculty and students of different nationalities create a unique cultural space which broadens your worldview and encourages to think big. The micro-degree is part of the International Business Administration programme that has received the highest international recognition among business schools - accredited by EFMD.

The learning process combines the acquisition of theoretical knowledge with its application in practical tasks. Lectures cover core concepts of finance and management accounting, which are reinforced through exercises, case studies, discussions, and group work. The business communication course develops presentation and intercultural communication skills through role plays and practical presentations. Independent work, including the analysis of professional literature, homework, and problem-solving tasks — deepens knowledge and connects theory with practice. The learning process fosters critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and professional presentation skills. A blended approach of contact learning and independent study supports flexible and goal-oriented learning.

Workload: 3 courses, 9 ECTS in total. 72 hours of lectures and seminars on campus, twice a week. Outside class, you’ll also need time for independent work: reading, practice exercises, group projects and preparing for tests and exams. Deadlines for all assignments are published a month before the programme starts, so you can plan your time well in advance.
