  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in business or entrepreneurship
  • Prior studies or experience in finance or economics. Or knowledge capital markets, and the relationship between risk and return.
  • Participants from non-EU countries must already hold a valid temporary residence permit. No permit will be issued for short courses.

Who is Investment Decisions intended for?

The course is designed for master's level students and professionals with a bachelor's degree in another field who have moved into roles involving financial or investment decisions. It suits those seeking to deepen their understanding of investment fundamentals, portfolio management, and capital markets to make informed financial decisions.

The course takes place over two full days, with sessions running from 10:00 to 17:15 each day and includes a 45-minute break. The two days are separated by a period of independent study, allowing participants to reflect on key concepts and prepare for the second session.

Topics Covered

An overview of key asset classes, the logic behind investment decisions, and the fundamentals of portfolio construction. The session introduces the concept of building a personal investment philosophy and highlights the importance of diversification.

Focuses on how capital markets function and their role in connecting investors with businesses. The session covers risk assessment and mitigation, and explores how macroeconomic conditions and market cycles shape investment strategies.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Course completion requirements

To successfully complete the course and receive a certificate, participants must actively participate in sessions, complete independent assignments, and submit a final project.

  • Assignments: Tasks related to portfolio construction, application of portfolio theory, and analysis of risk management strategies.
  • Final Project (Exam): A comprehensive portfolio and risk management paper that connects theoretical concepts with practical case studies and includes the development of a personal investment philosophy.
  • Active Participation: Engagement in discussions, simulations, and case analyses.

Prerequisites

The course is intended for participants who already have the ability to read and interpret financial statements and who understand the core principles of corporate finance, including investment decisions, the functioning of capital markets, and the relationship between risk and return.

Certificate

Participants who complete the course will receive a continuing education certificate with ECTS credits.
