Data Analysis for Business Decisions

Data is only valuable when it leads to better decisions. Data Analysis for Business Decisions develops the practical and analytical skills needed to work with data confidently — from understanding and preparing data to identifying relationships, testing hypotheses, forecasting, and interpreting results. The course strengthens statistical and critical thinking, helping professionals avoid common analytical mistakes and use data more effectively in business and finance.

From Data to Better Business Decisions

The course provides a structured understanding of the data analysis process, from preparing data to interpreting statistical results and forecasts. Participants gain practical knowledge of descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, data visualisation, Pivot Tables, regression and correlation analysis, and hypothesis testing.

The course helps participants understand not only how analytical methods work, but also when to use them and how to interpret the results in a business context. Particular attention is given to critical thinking and common mistakes in working with data, supporting more informed and evidence-based decision-makin

Who is Data Analysis for Business Decisions intended for?

The course is designed for specialists, analysts, and professionals with managerial responsibilities whose work involves understanding, analysing, or using data to support decision-making. It is also suitable for professionals who want to strengthen their statistical thinking and apply data analysis methods to business- or finance-related problems.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of business mathematics is required. Familiarity with economic functions, derivatives, linear equations, matrix calculations, interest calculations, and basic mathematical modelling is recommended.

Explore the course

The course combines face-to-face learning, where possible synchronous online sessions, and guided independent work. Teaching includes practical examples, worked exercises, and presentations that help participants understand how different data analysis methods are applied.

The focus is not only on performing analysis, but also on understanding when to use a method and how to interpret the results for business decision-making.

Registration opens on December 20, 2026. The course takes place from February to May 2027.

Topics Covered

Why is it important?
The quality of data analysis depends on how data is prepared and on the assumptions used when interpreting it. Common mistakes in working with data can lead to results that appear correct but are misleading in practice.

What will happen?
The session covers the fundamentals of data analysis, quantitative research, data manipulation, sample size, hypothesis testing, and critical thinking.

Why is it important?
In business, it is often necessary to understand how different variables are related and to what extent existing data can be used to forecast future developments. Regression and correlation analysis provide structured ways to assess these relationships.

What will happen?
The session covers linear regression, correlation, and the use of data for forecasting.

Why is it important?
Before drawing more advanced conclusions, it is important to structure data and identify patterns, distributions and deviations. Well-chosen descriptive measures and visualisations help make large amounts of data easier to understand and interpret.

What will happen?
The session covers frequency distributions, graphical presentation of data, Pivot Tables, descriptive statistics, and the normal probability distribution.

Why is it important?
Data analysis skills develop through practical application. Pivot Tables and histograms make it possible to structure data efficiently, compare groups and identify important patterns in distributions.

What will happen?
The session focuses on Pivot Tables and histograms and includes an online test.

Why is it important?
In business decision-making, it is not enough to observe that a difference or relationship appears to exist in the data. Hypothesis testing helps assess whether the evidence is strong enough to support a particular conclusion.

What will happen?
The session covers hypotheses, hypothesis testing, and the use of statistical results in decision-making.
