Ilona Beliatskaya is a PhD Candidate in Management and Junior Research Fellow. Her research focuses on urban management, exploring how collective action, commons, deliberative democracy, and community initiatives contribute to more inclusive, democratic, and liveable cities.
Ilona employs qualitative and participatory research methods to examine urban commons, civic participation, and community-led responses to urban challenges. Working closely with diverse community organizations, her research investigates how grassroots action and collective practices contribute to more inclusive, democratic, and sustainable urban development.
Ilona has been awarded the Tallinn City Council Scholarship (2024) in recognition of her research achievements about Tallinn.
Her research stay at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business was supported by the Ernst Mach Fellowship (2024–2025), funded by the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD).
