Tiina Tšatšua is a mentor lecturer at EBS

15.10.2009

Starting from September 20 mentor lecturers started to work in 11 Estonian higher education institutions under the ESF programme with Primus grants. Mentor lecturer is more experienced faculty member, who supports co-workers’ professional development, guides to analyze the accomplished activities, gives feedback and helps to find the answers.

It’s important to understand, that being a mentor is not compulsion, but it’s rather a dialogue between two colleagues. At EBS, Tiina Tšatšua is the first trained mentor lecturer.

“This year mentor lecturers are really enthusiastic and active,” said Karin Ruul, the coordinator of the Primus programme. “They are interested in mentorship and ready to support their colleagues. We just hope, their mentees will be as optimistic and eager to learn as they are.”

Mentors started to work in Estonian Business School, University of Life Sciences, IT College, The Estonian National Defence College, Mainor Business School, The Estonian Public Service Academy, University of Applied Sciences, Tallinn University, Tallinn Pedagogical College, University of Tartu and Tartu Health Care College.

If members of faculty are interested to become a mentor of would like to find one for them, you can read more about the programme in Primus website or contact the Primus coordinator in the school.

In January 2010, 30 new mentors will be trained and they start to work in September 2010. According to the Primus programme over 100 mentor lecturers would be trained for the year 2013.

The Primus programme is carried out under SA Archimedes and supported by European Union Social Fund.
