FAQ

How high should the results of the state exams be?

Depending on the programme, the English Language state exam must be between 50-70 points, composition at least 30 points. If you wish to study in marketing and public relations or corporate finance programme, the result of the mathematics state exam must be at least 30 (except if the grade on the high school certificate is at least 4).

Is it hard to study in EBS?

Learning is a constant process, i.e. active participation in courses and handing in homework in due time is an inseparable part of the study process. In addition to the exam, the final grade is composed of several other components (homework, tests, presentations etc). It is therefore necessary to take time to evenly contribute to your studies. Nevertheless, it gives the possibility to spread the study load and you therefore should not think that it is hard to study in EBS – intensive would be a more appropriate word.

How do I become a student of EBS?

First you have to hand in the documents and then participate in the interview. In case you do not have the results of state exams, you can take the exams also in EBS. For further information click here.

If after the interview you find your name among those who have been accepted, you have to come to EBS study department within the following 10 days to draw up the contract which stipulates the rights and responibilities of both parties. EBS will then issue the invoice for the tuition fee. In the beginning of September, just before the study year begins, your registration as an EBS student will be confirmed by official order of the Rector.

How can the tuition fee be paid?

Payment of the tuition fee is by semesters. You will be issued an invoice which you will find in the study informations system (ÕIS) or which can also be sent home by post. The tuition fee can be paid as a lump sum or by way of instalments. In the latter case an additional 500 kroons is applicable. For further information click here.

The first semester has a package price. In other words you will take the subjects assigned to you by the university. From there on you may either continue in the same way or you may declare additional subjects of your interest. In the latter case your tuition fee will be credit-point based.

Why pay so much for an education?

EBS high-quality education is guaranteed by its faculty which stand for both academic excellence and practical experience. For you it means that on the one hand EBS accommodates faculty who are active in research and on the other hand those who on a daily basis work in fields they teach.

In addition, further expenses (except accommodation) are virtually non-existent since your tuition fee already includes all necessary study materials, original course books, course readers, complementary material etc. Your only task is to attend lectures and acquire new knowledge. You will also get a personal study consultant who is always there to help and supervise you with issues related to your studies. Investment into high-quality education will pay off in already a few years. Compared to business graduates of other universities, the salary of an EBS alumnus is averagely twice as high. This is confirmed by the PRAXIS survey ordered by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Is it possible to apply for a scholarship?

EBS provides full or part scholarships to those bachelor and master students who have good study results, show prospect, stand out from among the others and are socially active.

The PRAXIS survey, ordered by the Ministry of Education and Science confirms that EBS alumni earn alsmost twice as much as the business granduates and alumni of other universities in Estonia.

Do you teach anything else in addition to business?

To provide business education, EBS has developed a unique combination. Apart from business subjects, your studies also include substantial language courses. In addition to the obligatory business English, you can choose between German, French, Russian or Spanish. With maximum commitment you will be able to speak another foreign language.

Your curriculum also contains subjects in law where you will learn to find your way around legal affairs.

Is the diploma recognised outside Estonia?

The state recognises all university diplomas, the curricula of which have been accredited. All EBS programs have been accredited.

In year 1998 EBS passed the audit conducted by European Foundation for Management Developmenti (EFMD) – an organisation that unites business schools in Europe. In summer 2001, EBS was the first business school in the Baltic States to receive the international CEEMAN (Central and East European Management Development Association) accreditation. This international accreditation is a sign of recignition to EBS as well as Estonian higher education as a whole. This provides us with a wonderful opportunity to export Estonian education to Europe and other countries in the world.

Thus, EBS diploma is recognised also elsewhere in the world.

Where do I live?

EBS does not have its own dormitory and students rent flats. Information on rental flats can be acquired in Student Home (http://www.tudengikodu.org/) or real estate agencies. A number of students come from Tallinn and live with their family or friends.
