EBS elected Peter Hunt as Business Manager of the Year 2009

The Advisory Board of Estonian Business School (EBS) elected Peter Hunt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AS Wendre, as the Business Manager of the Year 2009. While choosing the winner the Advisory Board considered his long-lasting contribution to the development of the business environment and entrepreneurship in Estonia. The title will be awarded on 11th June, at 12 pm, during the EBS Graduation Ceremony in the Estonia Concert Hall.

“Peter Hunt is an excellent example of a businessman who can successfully run a company and create new workplaces even during the recession. AS Wendre’s success story, as it grows from a small linen factory to a modern billion kroon textile exporting company, deserves a whole chapter in the entrepreneurship and business administration textbooks” - said EBS Rector Peeter Kross. “Today’s economy in Estonia needs exactly people like that, who can think and act globally.”

Peter Hunt, born in Sweden, is the owner and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AS Wendre, which is part of Trading House Scandinavia AB group. The company produces about 10 million pillows and 5 million blankets a year and has factories in Pärnu and Vändra in Estonia, also in Poland and a sales outlet in Germany. Based on the company’s economic results – with last year’s turnover of over a billion kroons – AS Wendre can be considered as one of the biggest bedding producers whose clients include leading home-decoration and furniture stores across the world. With more than 700 employees, AS Wendre is last year’s biggest employer in Pärnumaa.

EBS has been giving out the Business Manager of the Year award since 1991. The title is awarded to people who have created a strong company or group of companies with excellent economic results. Also the candidate has to have a well known and positive image both professionally and publicly.
