EBS organized a business visit to China in cooperation with the EBS Executive Training Centre

13.11.2008

As one of the program events to celebrate Estonian Business School’s 20th anniversary, EBS organized a business visit to China on 22 -28 October 2008 together with the Executive Training Centre (ETC). On 25-26 October an Estonian-Chinese Business Conference and the 1st EBS Chinese Alumni Conference took place in Jinan, Shandong province. There were more than 30 alumni present, as well as the Estonian delegation consisting of 13 businessmen from different companies, EBS’ Chinese partners including Madam Hu, previous President and Rector of Women’s Academy at Shandong, Mr. Chung Lixue the current Rector of Women’s Academy, and guests including Mr. Liu Fanghui, the Chairman of the Shandong Chamber of Commerce. In the evening Rector Dr Peeter Kross offered a Ceremonial Dinner to all guests and alumni.

The whole trip was very busy but extremely interesting – for entrepreneurs there was ‘match-making’ in Qingdao, an opportunity to meet with EBS Chinese Alumni to find company representatives for China; in Jinan and Wuxi there were visits to factories. The trip started in Beijing, continued to Qingdao, Jinan and Wuxi, and ended in Shanghai. Despite the very busy schedule we also visited the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium and the Great Wall of China. The program ended with a short lecture on the possibilities and difficulties in doing business in China.

It has been already agreed that the next trip EBS organizes for business people and entrepreneurs will be in 2010 to coincide with EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.

We are extremely grateful to the Estonian Embassy in Beijing, the Enterprise Estonia and EAS Representative in Shanghai, the Estonian Chamber of Commerce, the South China Chamber of Commerce and their partners in China Shandong province, as well as Women’s Academy in Shandong, IVWA and EBS’ German partners in Wuxi, not forgetting the businessmen participating, for thinking with us, supporting and accompanying us.   Thanks to all of them, we could make the trip happen and become as successful as it was.
