15.11.2007

Three Estonian private universities, Estonian Business School, International University Audentes and Academia Nord, are establishing a consortium to raise the quality of Doctoral studies and encourage more students to complete their studies.

“In accordance with the general tendencies for cooperation and networking on educational policy in the European Union and the Republic of Estonia, we have decided to work together in order to enhance the quality and results of Doctoral studies,” said Ene Grauberg, Rector of Academia Nord.

The Acting Rector of International University Audentes, Peeter Müürsepp, commented that the aim was to establish a joint Doctoral school through cooperation in developing different Doctoral curricula and academic research. “The objective of a joint Doctoral school is to offer the same level of Doctoral studies as in public universities,” explains Dr. Müürsepp.

Estonian Business School’s Rector Madis Habakuk confirmed that cooperation would definitely be carried out in the fields of accreditation, academic research, evaluation of research topics and the study process. “In the near future, we plan to call together the Board, who would confirm exact work plans for our joint activities,” adds Dr. Habakuk.

The universities will cooperate in developing Doctoral studies in the areas of Economics, Law, International Relations, European Research and Psychology.
